Once a year, the German business magazine WirtschaftsWoche, together with partners Accenture, EnBW, and O2 Telefónica, awards the prestigious accolade recognizing groundbreaking new products, technologies, and business ideas. At the gala in Munich, the winners were announced on stage. The team from EcoG in Munich, which secured the trophy in the SME category, has developed an operating system for electric vehicle charging stations. With this innovation, hardware manufacturers can focus entirely on electronics and related components, while EcoG’s software ensures smooth operation. It can be updated remotely, and electric vehicles can feed power back into the grid when needed. Already, more than 30 different charging stations are successfully using the Munich-based company’s operating system, giving the software a 15 percent market share in Europe.
